Step 1Cut 8 triangular shapes in a flexible mirror band as shown below (first download the model in the blueprints/plans section).
Step 2With hot glue, glue the non-reflective side of the 'reflectors' on large washers to form two '4-petaled flowers'.
Step 3Using a drill and a No6 bit, drill a hole in the corner of one of the wood squares.
In the other square drill 2 holes with a No3 bit (as shown below)
Step 4With an M6 bit, drill through the wood slat at the two places indicated.
It is important to drill the hole at 6cm from the top very straight through the slat. |
Step 5Glue the side of the square with one hole in the center of the square with two holes and fix from underneath with two screws.
Step 6Once the glue of the two 'flowers' is dry, put them on top of each other and fix them toghether slightly with hot glue.
Step 7Create a test tube holder. Wrap a wire around the tube and create a kind of hook at its base.
Step 8Pass an M6 bolt through a large washer, through the 'flower' on the mirror side and trough the wood slat.
Tighten the other side with a nut.
Step 9Loosen the bolt in the center of the reflector. Slide the hook of the test-tube holder under the head of the bolt and tighten everything back.
Insert a small roll of black paper in the test tube (or aluminium foil painted in black).
Step 10Fix the reflectors together with a stapler to form a parabola.
Fix a nail on the other end of the slat, perpendiculary to it.
Attach a wire to the CAP securing it with a push pin. Attach the other end of the wire at the edge of the reflector.
Step 11Attach the slat of wood and its reflector on the base with a bolt, three washers and a winged nut.
Step 12Report the sunglasses model on light cardboard and cut out the shape (the model can be downloaded from the blue prints/plans section.
Cut out the holes for the eyes.
Fold in half the glasses, gluing in sandwich a piece of first aid blanket.
Cut out the shape for the nose.
