A coin top

This project goal is to create a nice top with a minimum of materials.

 

This project was developped for the magazine 'Campus Junior' of the University of Geneva.

Place a drawing pin (point up) in the center of a coin.   Push a piece of adhesif tape of about 5 cm through the pin. Turn the COIN over and pass the tape on another pin placed about 1mm from the centre of the coin.Surround the coin with another tape, perpendicular to the first on, fixing it on the two pins.Cut about 1cm of a pencil.   To do so, gradually cut the wood until it breaks effortlessly.Push the wooden part of the pencil (not the lead) on the top pin (the one slightly off-centre)Check that the bottom pin is right in the center of the coin.   Check that the pencil perfectly centered and ...
