Shibori dyeing

Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique. As with batik, it involves protecting certain areas of the fabric from the dye. In the case of shibori, it is by tying certain areas with thread or wood that the dye is prevented from reaching them completely. This allows for the creation of very pretty patterns.

For this craft, one can use a natural dye (spice, plant) and fix it with simple vinegar.

This project was created for the magazine 'Campus Junior' of the University of Geneva.
